Knitting again...

I have been knitting on and off for the past ten years now. Nothing major, just simple scarves. Lately, i have been actively knitting again. I search high and low of my needles which has been stash away for years. Since i am self-taught, i almost forgot how to cast-on and knit/purl. Luckily, after several tutorials on 'knittinghelp.com', i am back on my feet again knitting. This time, i knit with a purpose...for my little baby. Yes, i guess my maternal instinct finally kicked in. It started when my mother in-law gave me this little cute knitted baby bootees. I came up with the idea of knitting a matching hat. I have never knitted a hat before..though i tried, about 3 years ago using double point needles...i failed miserably. Since then, i never go anything beyond scarves. So this time, i am determined to do well. I went to a lys and bought myself a skien of yarn, circular needles and started knitting. With the help from the ladies from lys, a book called stitch 'n bitch, and countless research on the web..i finally knitted a cute baby hat. I felt a sense of accomplishment. Now i am ready for a more challenging project. I am going to knit/try to knit a baby cardigan. Wish me luck!

Purl of the Orient...Is the name taken?

For the past few days i have been busy learning how to operate my blog, tweak the look and feel of my site and creating a banner using PhotoShop. Phew..it's been a long learning week for me. As i was building my site, i google the name "purl of the orient" so to know that i am not plagiarizing. To my surprise, i found another site with a similar name- "little purl of the orient". Much to my curiosity, i started reading her blog. I absolutely love her site and has put it under my 'interesting reads'. If you are reading my blog, you should really check out her site. She has done a wonderful job with it and really nice knitting pieces are shown there.

Hello world!

This blog was set up after my recent trip back from New York City. You can say that i was inspired to write about my thoughts after being back to the city. Boy...do i miss the city! I used to live in Chicago couple years ago. Bitter & sweet memories at the same time. More sweet i would say. Though i was often lonely/ clueless & cold in the city..but i still love it to every bits. The museums, the art galleries, restaurants, nightlife..the best that a city has to offer (CITY LIFE). Now that i am living in Texas, it's really not the same. I live in a small suburb close to the downtown Dallas. Love the walking trails, the space (you don't get much living in the city), my pet dog and definitely the overall lower cost of living. This blog is going to be about my life in the suburbia, motherhood, and my love for fashion & craft. So stay tune!
